Together we travel over 40,000 miles to visit 12 gardens that changed the world - across four key periods: Classical, Middle ages, Rise of Europe, and the Machine Age. This unique talk explores how garden design reflects culture, philosophy, and economics over time. We'll see how design approaches connected and reacted to each other.

The session is highly interactive including: critiques of our own and professional work, and homework assignments to do individually or in groups. THE CHINESE GARDEN: A WESTERNER'S PERSPECTIVE (45 min)
The story of my first visit to China and one of the great scholar gardens at Suzhou. This talk explores Western stereotypes of the Chinese garden, key elements of the style, and why the ideas and techniques are still relevant today. Includes a walk through a garden.
